Admission Decisions
The Admission Committee’s decisions are determined by a thorough review and discussion of each of the required components of the candidate’s file. This includes the contents of the parent questionnaires, school reports and testing as well as the observation notes from the playgroup or student visit and the parent interview. Candidates’ families are responsible for facilitating the completion of the admission file. Incomplete files will not be reviewed by the committee. Therefore, a phone call to check on the status of the candidate’s file is very important.

The Elisabeth Morrow School is a member of the Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York. Please visit their website for helpful resources for prospective parents. Letters announcing the decisions of the Admissions Committee are mailed to those candidates who have completed files beginning on the dates listed below:

ISAAGNY Notification Dates for 2010-2011

Friday, February 19, 2010

Three-Year-Old Program and Pre-Kindergarten:

Admission Procedures

Application for Admission
Applications for Admission are accepted for all grades through grade seven and are reviewed based on space availability. Mail the completed application form along with a $60.00 non-refundable application fee. The Office of Admission and Financial Aid will acknowledge receipt of your application with a letter.

Parent Questionnaires
Please share information about the candidate by completing the Parent Questionnaire. In assessing candidates, especially young children, detailed and concrete information will help the Admission Committee make informed decisions.

Teacher Recommendations and Transcript Requests

The Admission Committee request that the most current transcripts and teacher recommendations be forwarded from the candidate’s current school to The Elisabeth Morrow School after November 1.

Parent and Student Interviews
Please contact the Admission Office to arrange a visit. The screening process involves a playgroup for candidates to our three-year-old program through grade one. A morning visit to the school is required for candidates to grades two through seven. Additionally, parents are asked to share information about the candidate in a parent interview. The parent interview can sometimes be scheduled during the time of the child visit, so please inquire with the admissions staff.

ERB and ISEE Testing
All candidates for pre-kindergarten through grade four are assessed by the Educational Records Bureau [link name to erbtest.org] either at The Elisabeth Morrow School or at the ERB office in New York City. All candidates for grades five through seven will be required to take the ISEE.

Please contact Educational Records Bureau and ISEE directly to schedule an appointment:

Financial Aid
The Elisabeth Morrow School is committed to providing our families with flexible payment options and financial aid awards to ensure that qualified students are able to join our community. Admission to the school and financial aid decisions are made independently from one another and awards are based solely on the family’s financial profile. The family’s income, savings, investments, number of dependents, age of parents and number of children attending tuition-charging schools and colleges are some of the factors used to determine financial aid. The Elisabeth Morrow School awarded over $700,000 in tuition assistance for the 2008-2009 academic year. We continue to work hard to increase our budget, so that even more candidates can benefit from our program.

The Financial Aid Committee strongly suggests that all required components of the financial aid package be received in the office no later than March 2, 2009.

A complete Financial Aid Packet includes:

  • Financial Aid Request Form-- Complete and mail along with your application for admission. A full financial aid packet will be mailed upon receipt.
  • The SSS Report-- Will be mailed to you upon receipt of the questionnaire found above or you may complete the report online.
  • Copy of 2008 Income Tax Return including all schedules.
