Financial Aid
The
Elisabeth Morrow School is committed to providing our families with
flexible payment options and financial aid awards to ensure that
qualified students are able to receive an Elisabeth Morrow School
experience. Admission to the school and financial aid decisions are
made independently from one another and awards are based solely on
the family’s financial resources. Prospective families who are
applying for admission to the School and for financial aid are
encouraged to follow the timeline outlined in the admissions process
when completing both their admissions and financial aid files. Only
those families enrolled in the Four-Year-Old Program through grade eight may
apply for financial aid.
Financial
Aid Policy
While the availability of school resources, the number of
qualified applicants, and overall budgetary constraints influence financial
assistance decisions, The Elisabeth Morrow School is committed to providing
flexible payment options and financial aid awards to as many eligible
candidates as possible. In an effort to make the process fair to all
applicants, The Elisabeth Morrow School considers the following when making
award decisions:
The
primary responsibility for financing a student's education rests with
the family.
Both
parents are expected to contribute to tuition. If a parent chooses
not to work, The Elisabeth Morrow School imputes an annual income for
a non-working parent.
In
the case of divorce or separation, The Elisabeth Morrow School
requires both parents to file an application for financial
assistance. The Elisabeth Morrow School is not bound by any divorce
agreement specifying a parent's responsibility for educational
expenses.
The
Elisabeth Morrow School believes a family should invest in their
child's education before elective expenses, for example, secondary
home ownership, club memberships, and expensive car leases/purchases.
Financial aid applications must be completed by the advertised deadline.
Financial
Aid Application Process
We utilize the online service of Financial Aid for School
Tuition (FAST) to process financial aid applications. FAST provides a need-based financial aid analysis service which includes a
recommendation of what a family should reasonably contribute toward tuition. The
Financial Aid Committee at The Elisabeth Morrow School reviews all completed files processed by FAST and letters announcing the Committee's decisions are mailed to each applicant. The statements mailed from the business office to financial aid recipients reflect the tuition less the financial aid award.
Application Deadline: The
goal is to have an award determination made at the time that a
new applicant is admitted to the School (February 4, 8 or 13 depending on
the grade) and for current families, by the time
re-enrollment contracts are returned on March 1, 2013. Applicant families should attempt to complete their Financial Aid Applications around the ISAAGNY notification deadlines. Current families must have all paperwork completed (including the 2012 tax returns) by the re-enrollment deadline of March 1, 2013. Thank you.
