Violinists Perform at Carnegie Hall
After winning a competition among schools in the tri-state area, our fourth grade students performed at Carnegie Hall with the St.Lukes Orchestra, the resident orchestra of the hall. Not only did they play once, but they were the only violin group selected to play twice at KidsBeat, a four-day music education program for students in the five boroughs, New Jersey and Connecticut. Standing behind the full orchestra on May 26, the children played a medley of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star that incorporated selections from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Haydn’s Surprise Symphony and American The Beautiful. In fact the 30 EMS fourth graders played so exceptionally that when another school cancelled its Friday, May 28, performance the day before,KidsBeat asked Elisabeth Morrow School students to perform again.
