Grades Four through Six
Teachers guide students at this level to think and reason in more abstract ways with a rigorous curriculum that offers literature, research, and writing opportunities within a study of history and culture. The mathematics curriculum emphasizes multiple solutions and analytical thinking skills as well as algebra and geometry.
In two science labs and on the 14-acre campus, students observe and research biodiversity, the ecosystem, and the evolution, anatomy and physiology of living organisms, as well as physics, chemistry and astronomy. Students choose to study either French or Spanish in classes where conversation is emphasized. The music program includes the study of music history as well as choral and orchestral opportunities; art classes continue to integrate a variety of media into the curriculum.
Opportunities for leadership, sportsmanship and community service encourage the self-confidence and independence necessary for the transition to middle school and beyond. |
