Nursery and Kindergarten

Educators agree that students at this age learn best through play. Teachers who specialize in early childhood encourage students to work individually and in cooperative groups in a variety of hands-on learning experiences. They stress all aspects of language – reading, writing, listening, and speaking – and work with students on the essential skills and concepts that will be the foundation of their education.

Science and mathematics lessons are concrete and relevant to their lives; music and art classes enhance the curriculum and increase opportunity for creative learning. Students are encouraged to use the library daily. They play outdoors and attend movement classes to strengthen large motor skills.

At the same time, teachers encourage students to assimilate the social skills necessary for being part of a group and to understand the principles of cooperation and consideration of others.
