  • A Good Start for Boys' Basketball

    The Boys' Basketball team is comprised of 26 players ranging from 6th - 8th grade. They have started the year off very well with victories over Alpine, Tuxedo Park, Saddle River and Collegiate. The players have been coming every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for practice, and have worked very hard to improve their skills.

    Newcomers Willy DelRio, Galen Raab, and Alon Berkowitz have impressed everyone with their hustle, determination and knowledge of the game. Veterans Richard Nelson, Joey DeRose, Jeffrey Richardson, Zane Diaz, and Greg Litt have done whatever it takes to help the team.

    Jon Candler leads the team in rebounding and has inspired everyone with his hustle. Sal Buzzerio is the team's lead scorer and has displayed impressive offensive talent. Three year starter Carter Hirschhorn has taken his game to a new level and has always set a positive tone for the entire team. The Eagles have a few home games remaining, so if you want to watch exciting middle school basketball, please come and support the team!

  • Girls' Volleyball defeats Tenafly

    Wednesday October, 26 2011 Girls volleyball grabbed a win from Tenafly Middle School yesterday in a two game match. (25-16, 26-24). The girls came out strong in the first game with Erika Herman and Casey McConville each scoring a kill . In the second game Tenafly fought back hard however EMS was able to pull out the win in overtime 26-24. Highlighlights included Elizabeth Harris and Erika Herman contributing 8 service points each and Michelle Tu had 3 digs. The girls are enjoying a 5-2 record with three games remaining in the season. ~Coach Smith

  • Girls' Soccer Upended by D-E

    The Girls' Soccer Team lost, 2-0, to Dwight Englewood yesterday. The girls had 11 shots on goal, but were not able to net the ball. Abby Rivoir and Adinah Scherl had 3 shots on goal each, Elle Abitante had 2 and Pam Restrepo, 1. Emma Michels was tremendous in goal. She had 7 saves, keeping Dwight to scoring only 2 goals. We have another game today against S. Hackensack Memorial and we are hoping to hit the back of the net. Good luck girls!! ~Coach Gabriel

  • Boys' Cross-Country places 2nd

    On Tuesday, the boys' crosscountry team ran the Collegiate Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. 195 runners and 17 schools competed in the 1.5-mile race. EMS, led by 8th graders Carter Hirschhorn (5th in 9:47) and Justin Trout (7th in 9:51), finished 2nd with 76 points. Rounding out the top 5 scoring runners were eighth grader Richard Nelson (18th in 10:37), sixth grader William Hyer (23rd in 10:53) and seventh grader Caleb Shaia (24th in 10:55). The top five teams were: Collegiate (32 points), EMS (76 points), St. Bernard's (92 points), Trinity (100 points), and School at Columbia (104 points). Also in the race were Dwight-Englewood, Horace Mann, Fieldston, Riverdale, and Buckley.

  • Girls' Volleyball Thumps DE for Second Time This Season

    Girls' Volleyball defeated Dwight Englewood for the second time this season, winning in a two game match. (25-12, 25-10). Tess Higgins led the team with 12 service points and Michelle Tu contributed 10 to the victory. So Young Jang added a kill to the mix. The girls are currently enjoying a successful season with a 4-2 record, losing their only matches to Horace Mann.

  • Girls' X-Country Finishes Second

    10.19.11

    The Girls' Cross-Country team finished second with 75 points in yesterday's meet at Van Cortlandt Park. The team was led by 8th-grader Caroline Hyer, who was 4th overall in 11:20 (7:30 per mile) and sixth-grader Kira Trout, who finished 9th overall in 11:51.

    Team results: 1) Convent of Sacred Heart: 32; 2) EMS 75; 3) Nightingale-Bamford: 75 (EMS wins tie-breaker by virtue of a higher placed sixth runner); 4) Heschel 95; 5) School at Columbia: 101; 6) Fieldston: 128; 7) Horace Mann 150

    Next races are Thursday 10/20 at Tenafly Middle School and Tuesday 10/25 at Van Cortlandt Park

  • Girls' Soccer 3-1 over Columbia Prep

    The girl's Eagles soccer team recorded their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory against Columbia Prep. Elle Abintante opened the scoring in the first half with a great goal off a direct kick. Adinah Scherl netted the second goal of the first half with a nice assist from Abby Rivoir. Olivia Oropeza completed the scoring with a breakaway goal in the second half. Emma Michiels was solid in goal, making four saves to preserve the win. The rest of the team contributed with their awesome defense and passing throughout the game. Congratulations girls!! ~ Coach Gabriel
