Child Care Program Information 2010-2011
The Elisabeth Morrow School is committed to providing an optimal learning environment for all students. A quality childcare program requires a balance between age appropriate activities and individual appropriate activities to meet the needs of each child. We recognize that young children need an environment that is safe, nurturing and supportive to promote social, emotional and intellectual development. Our before & after school offerings follow:
Before School
Early Birds: Mornings from 7:30-8:20 a.m.
The Early Bird program offers supervised activities to students in the Three-Year-Old Program through grade four from 7:30 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. on all days school is in session. Parents must pre-register for the program, but there is no fee. Students in Morrow House (grades five through eight) have various options before school. The library is open at 7:30 a.m. and the life science room opens at 7:45 a.m. No pre-registration or fee is required.
After School
EMS Adventures Program
Students in kindergarten through grade six may participate in the After School Adventures program. Hour-long enrichment classes are held after school from 3:30-4:30 p.m. They are offered for eight weeks in the fall and spring. Among the offerings are art, cooking, drama, chess, creative movement, magic, photography, sports, science, keyboarding, movie making, aviation, games and gardening. Intramurals are offered for students in grades four and five. There is a fee for each class and pre-registration is required.
Busy Buddy Program: Afternoons from 1:00-6:00 p.m.
Students in the Three-Year-Old Program through Kindergarten may participate in the after school childcare program, which runs from the end of school (varies by grade level) until 6:00 p.m. The Busy Buddy Program offers safe, quality care in a mixed-age environment. Students play outdoors, enjoy snacks and have ample time for creative activities. A one-time registration fee is required and there is a daily fee of $10 per hour.
*Please note that special consideration is made regarding extended hours for the youngest students in our School. We will consider family needs, but make recommendations if extended hours might compromise a student’s ability to fully benefit from our academic program.
EMS Friends: Afternoons from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Students in grades one through four may participate in the after school childcare program, which runs daily from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EMS Friends offers safe, quality care in a mixed-age environment. Students play outdoors, enjoy snacks and have ample time for homework and creative activities. A one-time registration fee is required and there is a daily fee of $10 per hour.
Middle School Library: Afternoons from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Students in grades five through eight may stay in the Morrow House library daily after school until 6:00 p.m. After a thirty-minute snack and recess time, students spend the remainder of the time working in the library. Pre-registration is not required and there is no fee.
Note: Childcare is also offered on certain days, such as Conference Days and Faculty Study Days, when classes are not in session. In addition, during Spring Break and immediately after school ends in the summer, programs are offered for most students. Please see the Summer and Auxiliary Programs page for more information.
