Early Childhood Education Program Expands to Include 2-year-olds

We recently announced the expansion of our innovative Early Childhood Education Program to include children starting at age 2. The heralded program currently enrolls children ages 3 through eighth grade, providing a unique array of learning experiences in creative spaces through an academically forward-thinking and developmentally appropriate curriculum.

“Broadening the program is a prime example of EMS’ commitment to fostering meaningful and productive learning experiences in very young children that start the path toward cognitive development, language development, motor skills, and social and emotional development,” says Dr. Maureen Fonseca, Head of School.

This all-day program that runs from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (with early school and after-care available) provides young students with an enriched experience that integrates both active and restorative periods with specialized learning. The classroom environment will encourage exploration, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

“Two-year-olds typically are in a stage of acquiring language rapidly and meaningfully,” says Lauren Mactas, Director of Early Childhood Programs. “They are able to participate in conversations and their ability to express their needs and wants is emerging. This is an ideal age to introduce a structured learning environment and a unique opportunity for children to embark on their educational journeys at EMS when their minds are the most formative.”

EMS is now accepting applications for classes starting in September 2020.
