How Tuition Assistance is Awarded
EMS is committed to providing families with flexible payment options and tuition assistance. Admission and tuition assistance decisions are made independently of each other; tuition assistance is based solely on the family's financial resources.
The Tuition Assistance Committee will review all completed files, and approved tuition assistance will then be communicated to recipients with their enrollment contracts if their file is complete.
Our school uses a service called TADS which provides need-based tuition assistance analysis, including recommendation of what a family can reasonably contribute toward tuition. All information from TADS is kept confidential.
The Office of Enrollment Management is accepting applications for some grades for the 2018-2019 academic year, as well as applications for all grades for the 2019-2020 academic year. See our How to Apply page for step-by-step instructions.
If you are an applicant who is reapplying from a previous year, please contact our offices via phone or email and speak with our staff before filling out an application. Your fee will be waived.
Middle School Applicants generally take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) and have those scores submitted in order to complete an application to EMS. Other forms of standardized testing may be accepted as well, please inquire.
Young children may enter EMS with limited English Skills. In the fourth grade and above, we expect students to have the academic language to comprehend text, math problems, and understand the academic language associated with social studies (history) and science.
Candidates must be of qualifying age on or before October 1.

EMS offers select transportation options for families in New York City and New Jersey. Through Rainbow Transportation, we give families the option of roundtrip or one-way transport. Our New York students also have the option of a late bus, which leaves our campus at 4:30 p.m., for after school or sports activities. Families truly enjoy the convenience of a late bus.
New York City Routes
Two buses pick up door-to door from the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, and Washington Heights. We also offer the convenience of a common stop at 186th Street and Broadway, for families who live north of Cabrini Blvd, Inwood, Riverdale, and other areas beyond the usual route. Pick-up times begin at 6:30 a.m., with the last stop in New York at 7:30 a.m. (our common stop).
- New York one-way -$2925
- New York roundtrip-$4495
New Jersey Routes
Two New Jersey routes offer door-to-door service to towns along the river. Families living in Fort Lee, Edgewater, Cliffside Park, North Bergen, West New York, and Guttenberg may use this bus service. Pick-up times range from 6:30-6:50 a.m. depending on location.
We now offer a common stop in West New York at Sowing Seed School. Families may utilize this stop for a.m. pick-up or p.m. drop-off. After the children are dropped off, they may experience an after-school program until 7 PM. Sowing Seed is conveniently located across the street from the Port Imperial Ferry Station.
There is a monitor to support students and communicate with families on each of our routes. The driver’s main focus is operating the bus and transporting children safely. Each monitor uses the Glympse digital application to share the location of the bus via live map.
- New Jersey one-way-$2450
- New Jersey roundtrip- $3750
