Given the success of this year’s Book Fair, school store, and other Parents Association (PA) programming, the PA made the following gifts for the 2019-2020 current fiscal year:
$15,000 donation to the Apple Tree Fund, which is the most important fundraiser at EMS. It supports the school’s annual expenses that tuition doesn’t fully cover, such as teachers’ salaries, professional development, and the health and wellness program that supports the emotional growth of the whole child. Whether on campus or through EMS remote learning, our faculty develops in our students the skills, mindsets, and attitudes to be successful and to make a difference in the world.
$5,000 donation to the EMS Response Fund, dedicated to tuition assistance for current EMS families impacted financially by COVID-19 and for new technology and faculty professional development for EMS remote learning.
$2,500 donation to the Faculty and Staff Gift Fund, established 20 years ago as a way for our community to express their collective gratitude to all faculty and staff members for the guidance, support, and care they give to our children every day.
“COVID-19 presented EMS families with new circumstances and the school with expenses which were not foreseen, so to be able to do something to help support both our families and our beloved faculty during this crisis was welcomed,” says Melanie Weinraub, PA president. “We also chose to take the funds that would have normally been spent on end-of-year events like the Faculty Appreciation Luncheon and add them directly to the Faculty and Staff Gift Fund. Although we missed being able to celebrate our teachers with this cherished event, we certainly wanted to mark our appreciation for all the work they did and the love and care they gave our kids.”
