The Elisabeth Morrow School is committed to providing an optimal learning environment for all students. A quality childcare program requires a balance between age-appropriate individual and group activities to meet the needs of each child. We recognize that young children need an environment that is safe, nurturing and supportive to promote social, emotional and intellectual development. Our before and after school offerings follow:


Before School programs at EMS




Early Birds:

Mornings from 7:30 a.m.

The Early Bird program offers supervised activities to students in the threes program through fourth grade from 7:30 a.m., on all days school is in session.

Parents must preregister for the program, but there is no fee. The library is open at 7:30 a.m. for students in Morrow House (fifth through eighth grades). No preregistration or fee is required.

Busy Buddy Program:

Afternoons from 3–6 p.m.

Students in the threes program through kindergarten may participate in the after school childcare program, which runs from the end of school (varies by grade level) until 6:00 p.m. The Busy Buddy Program offers safe, quality care in a mixed-age environment. Students play outdoors, enjoy snacks and have ample time for creative activities. There is a daily fee of $12 per hour.

EMS Friends:

Afternoons from 3–6 p.m.

Students in first through fourth grade may participate in the after school childcare program, which runs daily from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. EMS Friends offers safe, quality care in a mixed-age environment. Students play outdoors, enjoy snacks and have ample time for homework and creative activities. There is a daily fee of $12 per hour.

*Please note that special consideration is made regarding extended hours for the youngest students
in our School. We will consider family needs, but make recommendations if extended hours might
compromise a student's ability to fully benefit from our academic program.


Middle School Library:

Afternoons from 3–6 p.m.

Morrow House After SchoolStudents in fifth through eighth grade may stay in the Morrow House library daily after school until 6 p.m. After a thirty-minute snack and recess time, students spend the remainder of the time working in the library. Preregistration is not required and there is no fee.


After School Adventures Program

Students in kindergarten through sixth grade may participate in the After School Adventures program. Hour-long enrichment classes are held after school from 3-4 p.m. (kindergarten) and 3:30-4:30 p.m. (first through sixth grades).

Classes are offered for eight weeks in the fall and spring. Among the offerings are art, cooking, drama, chess, creative movement, magic, photography, sports, science, aviation, games and crafts. Intramurals are offered for students in fourth and fifth grade. There is a fee for each class and preregistration is required.

Junior Eagles Soccer Club

Kindergarten and First Grade
Second- Fourth grade

Beginning Saturday, September 22 – November 17
$175 for the 8 week season / Held on the EMS Community Field

This program will be taught by professional coaches from Skyhawks Sports Academy along with parent volunteer assistants and will incorporate skills, activities and game play. Students will have the opportunity to improve their skills, whether they are beginners or more advanced. Each child will receive an EMS Jr. Eagles T-shirt.

Junior Eagles Basketball Clinic

Kindergarten–Second Grade
Third Grade–Fifth Grade

Starting January 2019

Come together on Saturday mornings with other EMS students to learn basketball skills and play games. Weekly practices will be under the direction of Coach Ryan from Sky Hawks Sports. Open to all abilities and levels. Registration will begin in November through the Office of Auxiliary Programs. Cost $175 per 8-week session. Contact Liza Hards for more information.



Junior Eagles Lacrosse

Kindergarten-Second Grade
Third-Fifth Grade

Starting April 2019

This Saturday program will be taught by coaches from Sky Hawks Sports. Learn the basics of the game of lacrosse including techniques, game rules, stick handling and more. Registration will begin in February through the Office of Auxiliary Programs. Cost $150 per 6-week session. Contact Liza Hards for more information.





NOTE: Childcare is also offered on certain days, such as Conference Days and Faculty Study Days, when classes are not in session. In addition, during Spring Break and immediately after school ends in the summer, programs are offered for most students. Please see the Summer and Auxiliary Programs page for more information.
